Fall 2015 Trend IV: Addicted To Fringe

fringe-fashion

It would be an understatement to say fringe has become almost synonymous with fall. From runways to streets to red carpets, everyone is wearing it. Your favorite fashion blogger is wearing it. The Vogue editors are wearing it. All the famous celebrities and models from Gigi Hadid to Olivia Palermo to Chiara Ferragni are wearing it.

And although fringe almost seems like it has become a cliché of the fall fashion scene, designers seem unable to give up fringe on the runways of their FW collections.

We see fringe on the hemlines of skirts, long or short, on the straps of heeled sandals, on the collars and sleeves of suede jackets, and on the seams of hobo bags.

Maybe one reason why we can’t resist fringe is because of its versatility. Fringe can go anywhere from Coachella boho to office chic to night out sexy. Depending on the print and material of the garment, fringe can take on a luxuriously dressed up vibe, and can be a mix of slouchy, glamorous and edgy all at the same time.

The trendiest yet not-so-easily-tried fringe pieces are probably tiered fringe skirts. Although fringe skirts are perhaps the best way to make a statement on the relatively dull colored streets of autumn fashion scene, because of their eye-catching designs, tiered fringe skirts are seldom worn by those who would rather avoid attention. But these beautiful culmination of feminine chic with free-flowing cuts of fabric will magically add curves and fun to your look. Don’t we all agree that Olivia Palermo looked fabulous in that paparazzi photo rocking the perfect midi-length tiered fringe skirt?

Fringe jackets are a stylish alternative to taking on the chillier weather aside from the typical cardigans or trench coats. Throw on a fringe suede jacket to your bland ootd, and ta da, you will suddenly put on a cowgirl vibe. Or kick it up a notch and go full dose on the effortless boho with a fringe poncho. Wear anything underneath, be it your daily jeans or black skinnies or denim shorts; a fringe poncho will add an exotic mood.

Not to be overlooked are fringe bags and shoes. If you are not ready to rock something entirely covered in fringe, but still want to get a taste of this fall staple, start with a fringe clutch or hobo bag. Remember, the longer and chunkier the fringes, the more stylish and polished your look will be as they will swing and fly about when you walk down the street. If you are thinking of getting a pair of fringe shoes, get a pair of fringe ankle boots or booties rather than a pair of fringe heeled sandals as you will be wearing the boots more often throughout the cold season than the sandals.
