Fall 2015 Trend I: Best Ways To Wear Plaid

It's back again. The fall wardrobe staple that is everywhere and has everyone obsessing over.

From classic plaid shirts to plaid skirts to plaid jackets, the check pattern is about to dominate the fashion scene with just about every other piece of clothing. And although not a totally new trend, plaid has somewhat come back with a fresh look this season: it has become more daring in colors and shapes and more diverse in forms.

Not sure how to pull off the plaid trend? Start with the must-have plaid flannels. If you are afraid of trying something bold like the classic red tartan look, how about a more subdued mix of colors like black, grey, khaki or ivory? Wear it oversized with skinny jeans or over graphic t-shirts with ripped shorts like a cardigan.

You can also pair a fitted plaid shirt with a simple leather or suede minis and under a biker jacket/vest. Or, even better, try tying it effortlessly around your waist the old way.

Just remember, if you are styling an oversized check flannel, make sure to emphasize your feminine side by showing some skin or curves!

Another conventional plaid piece is a skirt. Whether it be an office-appropriate pencil or a flirtatious skater, a plaid skirt is sure to add a statement to your look. A midi-length check pleats skirt is just about the essence of all 2015 fall trends combined.

You can never go wrong with pairing plaid with denim or, of course, black. A lot of graphic and statement sweatshirts as well as oversized knit sweaters are in this season, both great matches to a plaid bottom.

Don't forget plaid bottoms also include plaid trousers. Because they are a little difficult to pull-off, plaid trousers, when styled correctly, are sure to draw the eyes of street style photographers.

Plaid dresses are probably the easiest when it comes to styling plaid. Just add a fedora, a necklace or a belt to your look and finish it off with a pair of ankle boots for the perfectly sophisticated fall outfit. This season's plaid dresses not only come in the usual mini red skaters but also in the more adventurous midi mustard or green shifts.

If you can't decide which shape plaid dress to get, we suggest you first grab a loose-fit plaid shirt dress as it can be worn in so many ways, most commonly buttoned as a dress or unbuttoned as a jacket. Just take your pick!

Possibly the least seen of all plaid clothing, a plaid outerwear comes in many various types. For beginners, a plaid blazer will do. Perhaps try having some fun by tying a subtle color belt around the waist. A plaid cardigan or coat in darker hues is also a good place to start. But for the brave, a bolder, brighter color plaid coat awaits. Make sure to keep the rest of the outfit more low-key.

Plaid is really everywhere this season, and there are so many ways to rock this look. So get a piece of plaid clothing today! Below are some of Somethin' Sweet's suggestions.
